Cauvery row: Kannada activists block roads in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Several parts in Bengaluru witnessed the protest over Cauvery river sharing to Tamil Nadu on Saturday. Members of various pro-Kannada organisations blocked vehicles in Attibele and raised slogans against the State government. They criticised the State government for favouring Tamil Nadu farmers at a time when the State farmers are facing drought-like situation. They urged the State government to stop releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu and demand the Centre’s intervention. Protests were also witnessed at Malleswaram.
Farmers’ leader Kurubur Shantakkumar is holding a meeting of farmers at Freedom Park.
In Mandya, business establishments and schools have shut as farmers organizations have called for a bandh on Saturday.
