BJP announces first list of 189 candidates for Karnataka polls

New Delhi: After much deliberation, BJP announced its first list of candidates for general elections to Karnataka Assembly, on Tuesday.
BJP Karnataka election incharge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that first list of 189 candidates will be announced (ruling BJP is the last party to do so, with less than one month to go for the elections on May 10).
BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh incharge of Karnataka announced the names of candidates in the first list of 189 candidates with 52 new names, at the press conference.
It also includes OBC- 32 candidates, SC- 30 and ST- 16, from the profession of doctors, one each retired IAS and IPS officers, three retired government employees, eight social activists, five doctors.
The list includes- Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai from Shiggaon, Shashikala Jolle, Mahesh Kumatahalli from Athani, Balachandra Jarakiholi from Arabhavi, Ramesh Jarkiholi from Gokak, Abhay Patil from Belagavi South, Nikhil Katti from Hukkeri, Rathna Vishwanath Mamani from Saundatti, Siddu Savadi from Teradal, P Rajiv from Kudachi, Narasimha Nayak from Yadgir to name a few.
BJP State Vice-president B Y Vijayendra, the son of former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, Law Minister J C Madhuswamy, Cooperation Minister S T Somashekar, Horticulture Minister Munirathna, Mines and Geology Minister Halappa Achar, Education, Sports Minister K Narayan Gowda and others have also succeeded in getting the ticket.
While Congress has announced two lists totalling 165 candidates, JDS has announced only the first list, with second list of 42 candidates expected on Wednesday.
