Mysuru: The student welfare office at Christ College, Srirampura in the city celebrated International Women’s Day on March 7.
Dr Chaithra Narayan, CEO of Codagu Agritech and Shivam Distillations inaugurated the programme with Principal Rev Fr Jinto Jose, Shilpa S Student Welfare Officer and Gomathi, Student Coordinator by watering the plant.
Dr Chaithra addressed the gathering on the theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ and encouraged the students to be independent and gain self-confidence.
She gave examples of her own and other women achiever like Falguni Nayar, 45th richest woman in the world who started Nayka App.
She inspired girls to be physically, emotionally and mentally fit to face the challenges.
Principal Jose addressed the gathering by wishing the womenhood and acknowledged that women should be given respect.
He added that anyone who respects mother respects every women.
Prizes were distributed for the winners of games conducted on account of Women’s Day during the session.
Principal Rev Fr Jinto Jose and Shilpa Student Welfare Officer felicitated Chaithra Narayan at the end of the programme.
A special dance performance to highlight women’s empowerment was also staged.
