Baburao Chinchansur back in Congress

Bengaluru: Former minister Baburao Chinchansur who recently quit as BJP MLC, joined Congress here on Wednesday. He met KPCC president D K Shivakumar and joined Congress and it was a home coming for the influential leader from Kalyana Karnataka region.
He was a minister during Siddaramaiah’s Government, but had quit Congress and joined BJP during 2018 Assembly elections.
He had also played a major role in defeating Congress heavyweight and now AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
As a reward, Chinchansur was later nominated to the Legislative Council by the BJP. In the recent BJP Vijaya Sankalpa Yatre too, Chinchansur was seen sharing the dais with former CM B S Yediyurappa and also in the procession.
However, he resigned to the post and returned to Congress fold, the move that has come under criticism in BJP circles.
It is said that, Chinchansur who has a clout among Koli and Kabbaliga communities in Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts, may be fielded from Gurumitkal constituency again.
