ATMECE hosts international conference on ‘Recent Trends in Science & Technology ICRTST- 2021’

Mysuru: ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE) in association with Institution of Engineer India (IEI) and The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) had organized Second “International Conference on Recent Trends in Science & Technology ICRTST- 2021” on July 8 and 9 through hybrid mode.

Dr L Basavaraj, Principal, ATME College of Engineering, welcomed the dignitaries
to the conference. Dr Parthasarathy L, Organizing Chair, ICRTST-2021 spoke on the objectives of the conference and gave insights on the process of article registration, role of IEI, IETE and BJIT in the conference.

Further, he thanked all for joining hands to bridge the gap between environment and economic sustainability to make world a better place.

Chief Guest Narendra Singh, FIE, President, IEI addressed online on the role
of engineers and the need to develop technology in the area of climate change, improving health, cyber security etc. Giving insights on agriculture and industry productivity, he opined engineers to have vision towards nation building.

Guest of Honour Dr A S Deshpande, Registrar, VTU, Belagavi joined online and
said “education, experience and exposure are the three ingredients and expressed the fact that technology will always progress with the development in scientific research and engineers should give priority to such fundamental research, in view of the future India.”

Guest of Honour, Er Jasmail Singh, FIE, Chairman, IEI, Karnataka State Center
joined online and explained the importance of development of science and technology at such a critical time and said that only such international conferences contribute novel newer ideas and technologies with good outputs from research for the nation’s development.

L Arun Kumar, Honorable Chairman, ATME College of Engineering delivered the presidential address and gave insights on how India has 0.6% of GDP towards
R &D and gave statistics comparing with other countries.

He said of the 50,000 patent applications, 70% are Non-Indian residents. He gave insights on the National Research
Framework and the budget towards research for the next 5 years in India to build research ecosystem.

He opined researchers believe that only higher institutes like IITs and NITs
receive grants, however with right proposal and mentor Tier-II institutes can also receive the funding citing example of ATMECE which has recently received the DST funding of Rs 2.05 crore for ICT Enabled Co-Working Community Center Design for Rural Development.

Key note speaker, Prof H P Khincha, former Vice-Chancellor, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi spoke on educational policy for the future & the technologies.

He felt for the fact that human race caring about the society and its welfare are
slowly becoming extinct and added to this the future of the world is quite difficult to be predicted because of the erratic behavior of the nature.

He further emphasized on the patterns of energy dissipation and its conservation, stages of technology development, particularly inventions in Nano-technologies and Mega technologies which would need a different pedagogy of education.

Dr Mohd Helmy ABD Wahab, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn, Malaysia delivered the
keynote address on Recent Trends in Development of Internet of Things. He gave insights on Intelligent computing, Network system integration, High performance.

He spoke on Technologies advancement & convergence in IoT, cloud computing, AI, Big data analytics, cyber security etc.
The Valedictory session was held on July 9.

Chief Guest Dr Shyam Vasudev Rao, addressed online emphasizing on the changing engineering technology at
rapid rate, making the products obsolete in less time. He further added monitoring of all
works in any sector is done electronically without the physical presence of the personnel.

He concluded mentioning that the younger generations should focus on acquiring skills to understand and embark on to this technical era and contribute to the betterment of the society.

Guest of Honour Harsha, Manager, Channel Business, Asia Pacific Region, Siemens, addressed the forum on the topic Digital Enterprise, with good illustrations and finally concluded that, the pandemic situation has forced unleashing a digital world and one has to be ready in the future world to face drastic digital changes engineering education as well as in all engineering industries.

Guest of Honour Dr Syed Shakeeb-Ur-Rahman, Executive Council Member, VTU,
Belagavi, addressed online appreciating all the members of the organizing committee for the scrupulous planning and organizing the event.

Certificates were distributed to authors during the event.
