Mysuru: Ugadi is a festival to celebrate bitter-sweet in life as it’s the festival of new year for Kannadigas. But this year, it appears to be only bitter, thanks to Corona virus.

With total lockdown in the city, this year people have no choice but to celebrate it in low key. Ugadi festival is on March 25.

City’s market hub, Devaraja market witnessed less customers on Tuesday, the eve of Ugadi. The prices of vegetables and flowers have skyrocketed but there are no buyers, leaving the vendors in lurch.
People were seen rushing to the market before 10 am to collect the vegetables and fruits for the festival. But they were disappointed by the price. They did not have much time to bargain as police are keeping a strict vigil on movement of people.
It was common to see police appealing to vendors to keep a distance from customers and provide them with sanitisers, as mandatory.
