1 min readUttar Pradesh: In a suspected political killing, unidentified gunmen have shot down a BJP worker in Amethi in the State on Saturday night
Surendra Singh a BJP worker and close aide of Smriti Irani a former union minister was allegedly gunned down during the victory march during late night hours.The gunmen opened fire killing Singh on the spot.
Irani a BJP candidate had defeated AICC President Rahul Gandhi in the latter’s pocket borough Amethi in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Singh had played a key role in scripting Irani’s victory and had accompanied her during campaign tours in the constituency. This may have prompted the political rivals to target Singh, it is alleged by the locals.
