Rahul Gandhi to begin campaign from Kolar, where his speech cost him MP status

Bengaluru: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is all set to go on an election campaign next month in Karnataka. And, he will kick start his campaign titled – Satyameva Jayate – from Kolar, the place where his speech on Modi surname led to his disqualification as MP.
Last week Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as a Wayanad MP by a Surat court for his remark on Modi surname, while addressing a rally during the 2019 elections in Kolar. Meanwhile, Rahul has refused to apologise for his comment and face the consequences. KPCC president D K Shivakumar confirmed that Rahul Gandhi will kick start his campaign from Kolar where he will address a mega rally.

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah is keen on contesting from Varuna and Kolar. In the party’s first list of candidates, Siddaramaiah will contest from Varuna. But it is not yet clear whether he will also contest from Kolar too.
Karnataka will go to polls on May 10 in a single phase.
