Mysuru: The JD(S) party’s ‘Pancharathna’ yathra that has reached Mysuru, will be concluded on March 26 with a road show by JD(S) patriarch H D Devegowda and a mammoth gathering near the foot of Chamundi Hills at the ground near Uthanahalli on Outer-Ring Road.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, near the yathra venue at Uttanahalli Ring Road ground, former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy said that the valedictory of the yathra was planned at the foot of the Chamundi Hills almost three months ago and we expect more than 10 lakh supporters to turn up.
“With the conclusion of yathra, we will begin campaigning for the Assembly elections,” he added.
Former prime minister and JD(S) patriarch, Devegowda will hold a 3-km road show from Srirampura in Mysuru to the venue on March 26.
Taking a dig at the BJP’s ‘Vijayasankalpa Yathra’, Kumaraswamy said that people are being paid to attend the yathra.
“There are no real supporters of the party attending the yathra,” he ridiculed.
On the confusion over Siddaramaiah’s search for Assembly constituency to contest the forthcoming election, Kumaraswamy mocked that “He has been a chief minister once and even deputy chief minister two times. Besides, he has tabled the State Budget 13 times. Unfortunately, he is still searching for a constituency.”
On the Congress’ guarantee cards, he sought to know, why these guarantees were not made to the people of Rajasthan and Chattisgarh where the Congress is in power.
“These are just false promises and even Congress is aware of this,” he added.
He welcomed Adichunchanagiri seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji’s call to put an end to ‘Urigowda and Nanjegowda’ issue (the fictional characters portraying them as ‘Vokkaliga Bravehearts’ who killed erstwhile Srirangapatna ruler Tipu Sultan), that had stoked controversy.
JD(S) MLAs G T Devegowda, Sa Ra Mahesh and Ashwin Kumar and others were present.
