Mysuru: A section of Swamijis under the banner of Jagathika Lingayat Mahasabha, Mysuru district unit have warned of launching aggressive protest if the erroneous content about 12th century social reformer Basaveshwara in the social science text book of class nine is not rectified at the earliest.
Addressing media persons in the city, the swamijis led by Hosamutt seer Sri Chidananda Swamiji alleged that ” the revised content of the textbook reeks of brahminism, ignoring the facts. It is also against what Basaveshwara propagated thus sowing the seeds of wrong opinions in the students”.
The Swamiji blamed the textbook revision Committee of making a deliberate attempt to distort the facts, by dropping the facts about Basavanna in the earlier textbook. The Mahasabha strongly condemns such acts and demands for taking corrective steps by revising the content and withdrawing the wrong version in circulation.
Chidanand Swamiji also expressed his apprehensions over the growing tendency to highlight brahminism in the recent days. It is especially more among all the classes and the political parties have to take the blame for this. In case of any opposition, it will lead to trouble The brahminism appears to grow stronger in the coming days, the seer said.
The seer also said, the reasons behind such attempts may be due to the fear towards growing number of takers for Basavanna’s principles mainly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a mention of it in the parliament, added Chidananda Swamiji.
Gurushanta Swamiji of Kuderu Mutt, Immadi Madivala Swamiji of Madivalaswamy Mutt, Jadeswamiji of Devalapura Mutt, artist L Shivalingappa and others were present.
