Bheemotsava! Mahanayaka Ratha marks 131st birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar at Gandhinagar

Mysuru: A colourful procession was taken out on account of 131st birth anniversary celebration of Dr B R Ambedkar, from Gandhinagar to Town Hall in the city.

Dr B R Ambedkar Gandhinagar Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti led by President Sharat Satish and General Secretary Devaraj C had organised the procession.
Mahanayaka Ratha a tableau with the bust of Ambedkar on the top, and the images of cover pages of various books authored by Ambedkar and his slogans, all adorning the tableau was taken out as part of Bheema Rathotsava.

The procession began from Gandhinagar bus stand ground and passed through various thoroughfares of the city including Ambedkar Circle and Ashoka road before culminating in front of the statue of Ambedkar at Town Hall.
The tableau was the cynosure of all eyes as it created awareness on the importance of education as envisaged by Ambedkar. Cultural troupes like Dollu Kunita, Puja Kunita, Goravara Kunita, Chilipili Gombe, Nasik Band, drums and Kamsale added colour to the procession.

ACP ( N R Sub- division) M Shivashankar flagged off the procession by beating the drum. Corporator Dr Ashwini Sharat presided. Mysore District Journalists Association (MDJA) President S T Ravikumar, Administrative Officer of University of Mysore, Manasagangotri, Prof Madesh, AEE, Vani Vilas Water Works Ashwin, advocate and Bodhisatva Credit Cooperative Society President Thimmaiah and Assistant Commissioner of MCC Zone-7 Nanjundaiah were present.
Office-bearers of Dr B R Ambedkar Gandhinagar Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti Suresh, Rajesh, Manjunath, Raju, Vijay, Rakesh, Rangaswamy and Umesh were present.
