Mysureans wake up to chilly weather! Cyclone Tauktae causes mild showers

1 min read

Mysuru: Mysureans woke up to the chilly weather due to mild showers on Saturday.

It is mostly due to the formation of Cyclone Tauktae over Arabian sea that has already hit neighbouring Kerala.

The early morning drizzle followed by rain came as a respite from sweltering heat to the people who are otherwise spending a life of recluse due to Covid Curfew, by staying indoors most of the time.

As the Cyclone Tauktae hit neighbouring Kerala on Friday, Mysuru started to experience mild showers awhile same night itself. However, less than moderate rainfall was witnessed at the crack of dawn. It lasted at around 10 am, albeit with intermittent rains.

People who went out to buy essentials were caught unawares, as it has become more of a routine to shop between 6 am and 10 am, due to Covid Curfew. The traders who had spread their wares, were also caught unawares as they had to experience cold response, due to most of the regulars preferring to stay inside home.

As per meteorological department, the district will witness rain for next 48 hours, albeit in intervals.

Three days ago, parts of Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar that shares border with Kerala witnessed heavy rain and gale.

The formation of Cyclone on Arabian sea is expected to wreak more damages and Kerala and Tamil Nadu have already prepared to face it.
