‘No EVM, restore ballot’ pradesh Mahila Congress launches postcard campaign

Mysuru: ‘ EVM tholagisi, matha patra balisi prajaprabhutva ulisi ( Disband EVM, use ballot papers and save democracy). This is how Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee ( KPCC) has launched a post card campaign to up its ante to bring changes in the present electoral system.

Committee president Dr Pushpa Amarnath has launched the campaign to impress upon the authorities concerned to resume the system of ‘ballot papers’ against using electronic voting machines ( EVMs) in the elections. One lakh post cards will be sent to Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi to draw the attention of the President of India.

The post card with the message written in Kannada, addressed to the President of India.

Amarnath told media on Monday ‘ The mahila committee has launched the campaign with the intention of making a start from the womenfolk in the first phase’.

The speciality is all the women workers of the party will be writing the letters by hand from all the women wing’s of the party and district units.

When most of the developed countries like USA and Germany are using ballot papers, it’s only BJP in India that is hell bent upon EVMs’, Pushpa has pointed out.

Former deputy mayor Pushpavalli, Dr Sujatha T S Sreenivas Rao and other leaders were present during the launch of the campaign.
