Wi-Fi in 30 more railway stations in Mysuru division

Mysuru: Going by the increasing fad of the people to hook on to their cell phones, South Western Railway, Mysuru division will be connecting 30 more railway stations with Wi-Fi internet facility.

They are- Sagarakatte near KRS in Mandya, Hosa Agrahara in K R Nagar taluk in Mysuru, Narimogaru in Puttur taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, Ammasandra in Tumakuru district, Devanur and Chikkamagaluru, Molakalmur, Sasalu and Thalaku in Chitradurga and Karjagi in Haveri and other railway stations.

The passengers can use high speed internet for free for 30 miniutes while waiting for the trains, on the platform.

According to a senior railway officer, as part of the second phase of the project new stations will be brought under Wi-Fi in addition to 55 railway stations where the passengers are enjoying the facility.

The works on providing the facility at new stations are being carried out on a fast pace. It is a part of the 100 day action plan of the ministry of railways, to connect 85 stations within the prescribed time. Across the country 4,800 stations will be covered against the facility existing at 1,603 stations.

RailTel corporation a public sector undertaking owning a pan India optic fibre network along railway track is the executing agency and being carried out through TATA Trusts to provide technical infrastructure.
