Mangaluru: Following a meeting with Deputy Coomissioner Shashikanth Senthil the drinking water situation in the town is likely to improve soon, with the deputy commissioner promising to think again over rationing system keeping in mind the water level at Thumbe dam.
MLAs Vedavyas D Kamath and Bharat Shetty who led a delegation of BJP leaders to the deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday, apprised the deputy commissioner about the problem that may recur during summer due to rationing system.
Kamath told the deputy commissioner that if the pumping of water at Thumbe dam is stopped from April 24, it will take not less than 48 hours for water to reach hilly areas. With the drinking water crisis already looming over, it may push the people to difficulty further. Already water is not reaching much of the wards. In this wake it is better to drop the plan of rationing of water at Thumbe dam.

Mangaluru North MLA Bharat Shetty, former mayor Ganesh Hosabettu, Corporators Premanand Shetty, Roopa D Bangera, Sudgeer Shetty Kavoor and other leaders were a part of the delegation.
