Mysuru: Demanding ministerial berth for their leader and four time MLA from Narasimharaja Assembly constituency in the city, Tanveer Sait, 18 corporators including Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath have warned of quitting from their posts enmasse.
Sait a Congress MLA had served as the minister in the cabinet of previous chief minister Siddaramaiah. However, he was not considered when JD(S)- Congress coalition government led by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy came into power a year ago.
Pushpalatha Jagannath who chaired a meeting of the corporators at a hotel in the city, has decided to exert pressure by writing letters to Coordination Committee chairman and former chief minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC President Dinesh Gundurao.
If they fail to consider the demand, the corporators will be submitting their resignation letters. If the Congress party should survive in Mysuru, Sait should be considered for the ministry, it was learnt to have been discussed in the meeting.
The recent decision comes in the wake of resignations already submitted enmasse by the lower rung leaders of the party from N R Assembly segment. The block Congress leaders and KPCC members from the city had handed over their resignation letters at the party office in Bengaluru recently.
But it did not have any impact as Sait missed the bus again, with two independents R Shankar and Nagesh inducted into the ministry recently.
Corporators Ayub Khan also a forner mayor, Ayaz Pasha alias Pandu and other corporators were closeted during the meeting at a hotel.
