280 kg of banned plastic seized in Pandavapura

Mandya: Continuing with their drive against banned plastic materials, Pandavapura TMC officials have seized 280 kg of plastic. It includes plastic carry bags, cups, rolls and other materials.
The personnel led by Environment Engineer M G Shafinaz raided various shops in commercial areas and seized the prohibited materials. The plastic materials if not disposed in a proper manner end up in drains resulting in the choking of drainage system and also vacant sites.
Hence all the precautionary measures are being taken complying with the law.
Shafinaz said ‘August 5 is the last date for the traders to start abiding by the law. Fine will be imposed if anybody is found using banned plastic articles’.
