Yediyurappa arrives at his native Bookankere

Mandya: A day after Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa took oath of office, he visited his native place Bookankere in K R Pet taluk in the district on Saturday.

Following the arrival of Yediyurappa ecstatic villagers offered him a rousing welcome. Women offered poornakumba welcome, along with the seers of the mutt in the village.

The chief minister offered prayers at the temple of his family diety Swatantra Siddalingeshwara at Kapanahalli and later at the temple of his village deity Sri Adishakti Gogalamma. The village is wearing a festive look with enthusiastic villagers decorating every nook and corner of the village with mango leaves and banana stems considered as auspicious.

Yediyurappa who assumed office as the chief minister for fourth term has donated generously for the development of the temple of village deity and has also initiated various development works in his native place.

Yediyurappa will later visit Cheluva Narayana Swamy temple at Melukote in the district.
