139th birth anniversary of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar celebrated with fanfare in city

Mysuru: The 139th birth anniversary of erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar was celebrated with fanfare in the city on Sunday.

Mysuru District incharge and Social Welfare Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, along with Pramoda Devi Wadiyar from the royal family participated in the flagging off of the procession, from the premises of Khille Venkataramana Swamy temple, in Mysuru palace.

Minister Mahadevappa highlighted the significance of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar’s contributions like equality and democracy which were conceptualised in British India, in which Nalwadi played a vital role in implementing them.

The minister also credited Nalwadi for achieving social justice through reservation for the deprived communities.

Mahadevappa, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, Zilla Panchayat P CEO K M Gayathri, Mayor Shivakumar, Deputy Mayor Roopa, MCC Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy, Deputy Director of Mysuru Palace Board Subramanya and leaders of various pro-Kannada organisations paid their floral tributes by garlanding Nalwadi’s life size photo, in the flower bedecked motor chariot.

The floral tributes was also offered to the statue at Krishnaraja Wadiyar Circle.

The district administration had further organised a grand procession, along with cultural troupes from Palace to Kalamandira.
