Yuva Brigade activist’s murder: Mysuru district police arrest 6 persons

Mysuru: The Mysuru district police have arrested six persons in connection with the alleged murder of Yuva Brigade activist Venugopal Nayak in T Narasipur on Sunday.

The police had taken two prime accused – Manikanth alias Kole Mani and Sandesh – into custody on Monday. On Tuesday, the police arrested four more and they are identified as Anil, Shankar alias Thuppa, Manju and Haris.

Venugopal Nayak was allegedly hacked to death during Hanuma Jayanti in T Narasipur on Sunday. Following the crime, the district police had formed a team to nab the culprits and they have now arrested six in connection with Nayak’s murder. More could be taken into custody, it is learnt.

T Narasipur witnessed tense moments following Nayak’s alleged murder on Monday. Several pro-Hindu groups had called for a voluntary bandh on Monday. They closed several shops and held a sit-in protest demanding justice. Yuva Brigade leader Chakravarthi Sulibele had visited the family of Nayak to offer his condolences.

The BJP – in the session – accused the Congress government of not doing anything for Hindu activists in the State. The party on Monday has formed a fact-finding committee to ascertain the truth in the crime.
