Younger generation of teachers must stress on promotion of Indian Knowledge System: Sri Veereshananda Saraswathi Swamiji

Mysuru: ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE), Mysuru, in association with Vidya Bharathi Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan (VBUSS), Karnataka, Bangalore and Inter University Centre for Teacher Education (BHU), Varanasi had organised a three-day national -level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Indian Knowledge System”.
The FDP was inaugurated by Sri Veereshananda Saraswathi Swamiji, Vivekanada Ramakrishana Ashram, Tumakuru, Dr Rajeeve Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE, New Delhi in the presence of the guests of honour, Dr Ashish Srivastava, Dean Academics and Research, IUCTE, BHU, Varanasi, Dr Shobhita Satish, National Secretary, VBUSS and Krishna Prasad, State Convenor, VBUSS, by lighting the lamp.
The programme was presided by Arun Kumar L, Chairman, ATMECE, who elaborated on
the significance of the FDP and requested all to make the maximum use of the outcome.
Sri Veereshananda Saraswathi Swamiji, in his inaugural address, felt that the ruling in India, after independence has not taken any initiation to make the Indian Knowledge System, reach the Indians through the education system.
He also opined that the influence of English Language and Lord Macaulay’s education System has made many of Indian
Languages along with its culture, totally vanish. Finally he urged that the future younger generation of teachers should emphasise on the promotion of Indian Knowledge System through as many Indian Regional Languages as possible.
Dr Rajeeve Kumar, mentioned that AICTE, New Delhi has started some steps to promote the Indian Knowledge System through Regional Languages, one of which is the introduction of the subject ‘Indian Knowledge System’ at all the possible higher education levels, as part of NEP 2020.
He also told that, in view of this, AICTE has given instructions to all the affiliated institutions to organise FDPs and other programmes on this subject as many as possible.
During this FDP, several renowned resource persons showered their immense knowledge,
emphasizing on the subject.

More than 200 members from various higher educational institutions actively participated in this FDP.
