Mysuru: Do you have any neighbours in below poverty line ( BPL)? And, do they have new born girl child born on or after April 01, 2019? Tell them about Yogalakshmi scheme launched by Mysuru City Corporation ( MCC).
The scheme will provide a benefit of a bond with a value of Rs 25,000 that will be deposited in the bank in the name of the beneficiary. Once the girl completes 18 years of age, the benefit will be extended to her.
To claim the benefit, prescribed format of the application can be collected from all the nine zonal offices of MCC and birth and death registration office at MCC. The documents to be produced are- Aadhaar card or voter ID, joint bank account of the mother ( of the girl child), photo of the parents with the new born girl and mother card. Importantly, the baby should have been born only in the government hospital.
As announced in the MCC budget, an estimated Rs 2.5 crore has been earmarked for 1,000 beneficiaries.
A screening committee formed under the chairmanship of MCC Commissioner will verify the application, before extending the benefit.
Corporator Shobha Sunil who also heads finance panel in MCC had announced the scheme in the budget.
Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath, Deputy Mayor Shafi Ahmed, Corporator R K Sharat, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, Deputy Commissioner Shivanandamurthy were present during the release of the posters of the scheme.
