Yoga, lesson in the wild for students at Bandipur

Chamarajanagar: On International Yoga day, on June 21, students of Government Higher Primary School at Hongahalli in Gundlupet taluk were exposed to the nuances of yogasana in the lap of nature.

The school located in the fringes of Bandipur forest, provided a perfect way for students. The students performed various asanas under the guidance of head master Mahadeshwara Swamy on the green lawn near the old reception centre of safari at Bandipur.

As part of Chinnara Vana Darshana ( A camp in the wild for children) programme they were taken to Himavad Gopalaswamy Hill and also Parvathi Hill, before returning to Bandipur. They went on a safari inside the forest and were introduced to varieties of flora and fauna.

A short film on the significance of ecology was also screened for the benefit of the students. Essay writing and drawing competitions on wildlife was also conducted.

Prizes were distributed to the winning students.

Range forest officer of Maddur range Shylendra Kumar distributed the prizes. Wildlife photographer R K Madhu, teachers Prabhakar, Vinod and Pavitra wew present.
