Yoga Guru BKS Iyengar’s favourite, Brahma the tiger of Mysuru Zoo dies of illness

Mysuru: A tiger died at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) in the city on Friday.
The 20-year-old male tiger named Brahma died of age related illness at about 3 pm, according to Executive Director of the zoo Ajit Kulkarni.
Brahma one of the major attractions among big cats in the Zoo was captured on March 18, 2008, in a rescue operation at Teralu village in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district. The state forest department had conducted the rescue operation due to increasing man- animal conflict.
Following the operation the tiger had been rehabilitated in zoo.
It had been adopted by famous Yoga guru late BKS Iyengar for lifetime under animal adoption scheme.
Mysuru Zoo has 10 male tigers and six females now, according to the executive director.
