1 min read

Bengaluru: Writer S L Bhyrappa will inaugurate Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara this year. The government has also agreed to release Rs 20.5 crore for the festival.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa who presided over a meeting at Vidhana Soudha on August 14, announced that ‘Noted writer S L Bhyrappa will declare open the Navaratri festivities scheduled to be held in October. It will be approved in the next cabinet meeting’.

The chief minister also clarified that there will be no changes in the scale of the festival and will be celebrated like in the previous years.

When a question was raised about the possibilities of scaling down the grandeur and celebrate simple Dasara in the wake of  flood ‘the chief minister said that the State had witnessed a similar situation in the past too and Dasara had been celebrated according to the past customs and traditions without compromising with the pomp and gaiety associated with it’.

When the State has witnessed its worst ever flood in the past 40 years, the wisdom says it should be a simple affair. However we should not ignore the richness of the festival.
