Writer Champa passes away; a colossal loss for Kannada

Bengaluru: Writer Prof Chandrashekar Patil most known as Champa passed away on Monday. He was 83.

According to the sources close to family, Champa breathed his last at a private hospital in Konanakunte.

The mortal remains will be brought to his house near the Metro station at Elachenahalli.

Champa who was a prominent Kannada litterateur, was known for his limericks. An English professor by profession, Champa’s hold on Kannada literature was immense that had earned him many accolades.

He had served as the president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat. It was during his tenure the 83rd Kannada Literary meet was held in Mysuru in 2017.

Champa who was known for his sharp remarks was the long time editor and publisher of “Sankramana” a literature based journal.

A native of Dharwad, Champa had settled in Bengaluru and was associated with several organisations for the cause of Kannada.
