World Tourism Day! Royal scion Yaduveer greets tourists with flowers, Mysore Pak at Palace

Mysuru: Amid various protests and rallies taken out as part of Bharat Bandh, World Tourism Day was observed without any hassles in the city on Monday.

Scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar welcomed tourists with flowers and a box of Mysore Pak at Mysuru Palace to mark the Day.

Mysore Travels Association had organized the event albeit on a simple note at Varaha gate the main entrance of the palace. Several international and domestic tourists were welcomed and provided information about the World Tourism Day and the legacy of Mysore Palace.

Yaduveer told media “Owing to Covid situation, tourist places were largely affected. Now, the tourism is returning to normalcy, with intensive vaccine drive boosting confidence level among tourists who can be seen roaming around the top tourist destinations.”

Karnataka Tourism Society Director B S Prashanth said “As Dasara is fast approaching, it should not be restricted to Mysore Palace. The Vijayadashami procession should be taken up to Bannimantap to encourage tourism sector. In Mysuru 80 per cent of the people are directly and indirectly dependent upon tourism.”

The theme of Tourism Day this year is “Tourism for Inclusive Growth”. It’s very¬† much needed to empower tourism stake holders.”

France national Lauret told Mysoorunews.com “I came to India an year ago and exploring the best tourist destinations. Yesterday we came to Palace and enjoyed the illumination. Today we came to explore the interiors of Palace and we are happy to be a part of Tourism Day,” said Lauret who is touring along with his family.

Travel operator Jayakumar, Hotel Owners Association President C Narayan Gowda, Palace Board Deputy Director T S Subramanya were present.
