World AIDS Day: St Joseph’s College for Women takes out walkathon

Mysuru: St Joseph’s College For Women Rammanhalli, Mysore conducted a Walkathon to raise Awareness about World Aids Day on Thursday.

Around 200 students from PUC and Degree took part in the event.

The Chief Guest of the event was Dr S P Yoganna chairman Suyog Hospital, Ramkrishna Nagar.

Yoganna spoke about the importance of having awareness regarding micro organisms and on its role in causing diseases.

He said it is our responsibility as an institute to educate the students and public alike on this disease – AIDS.

The event was graced by President Rev Dr K Antony William Bishop of Mysore and President of MDES.

 

He spoke about “Spirituality as a way of life, Importance of Humanity and living in Unity”.

This year’s Theme for World Aids Day is “ROCK THE RIBBON”.

The National Aids Trust is committed to stopping new cases of HIV, securing the right of people living with HIV and fighting the stigmas and discrimination. People living with HIV are at the heart of what we do, and this year’s World Aids Day campaign is no different we are observing the diverse group of people who make up this community and the HIV allies who stand shoulder to shoulder with them and fight for HIV Rights.

The walk began from the college entrance at 9 AM and concluded at Rammanhalli village.

The students held posters and created awareness among the villagers about World Aids Day observed every year on December 1.

Transportation was provided by the college bus to return to campus where refreshments were arranged for the participants.
