Women’s must take up sporting activities, says international skater Esther Prasanna Bernard

Mysuru: International skater Esther Prasanna Bernard gave a clarion call to girl students to take up sporting activities.
Speaking after inaugurating annual sports day of MMK and SDM Women’s College organised at Ovals Ground, Esther cited the examples of women sports achievers like ‘Karnam Malleshwari, P T Usha, Vandana Krishnamurthy, Sania Mirza and P V Sindhu’ who have emerged as sports stars of India and an inspiration to others.
Similarly if women also develop interest in sports, it will also help them in keeping a good health. It is essential especially for the youths to keep good health at least to build a stronger India, added Esther.
College Principal Prof Sainath Malligemadu advised youths to devote at least one hour daily for physical and mental activities. It is a matter of pride that our students brought laurels by representing the University of Mysore in International arena in various sports.
Parents Association President Shobhana Sundari, Alumni Association President Prof Nirmala, IQAC Convener Prof Sukrutha, Student Welfare Officer Prof Ranjitha, Physical Education Director Malathi were present.
Earlier students took out a march past as a guard of honour to sports flag.
National sportsperson and BSc final year student Diyashree handed over the sports torch to chief guest.
