Bengaluru: Latest shocker in the Congress’ Gruha Lakshmi scheme is that women from income tax paying families will not be eligible for Rs 2,000 to be given under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar stated women from income tax paying families would not be considered eligible for the scheme. There are 10 lakh of such women and the chief minister has been requested to bring them under this option. He has promised to bring them under the scheme in future.
The State government is making all preparations to launch the scheme in Belagavi either on August 17 or 18 and the launch of Gruha Jyoti may be held on August 1 at Kalaburagi. However, a final decision will be taken on this after a high-level committee meeting, it is said.
