Kemparaju who is a driver at fire and emergency services department in the city, convinced the feared residents as the snake was unlike any other poisonous snake. It is non-venomous and slithers out during night hours in search of its prey. It feeds on lizard, larvae of lizards and flies.

It is commonly found next to the dwellings, either in the corners of the door frames, edges of the walls. In the last two months, eight snakes of the same species are rescued and five in RBI quarters.

The quarters is adjacent to forest area and hence it’s common to find snakes here, said Kemparaju.
