Wodeyar Express, Malgudi Express, Tirupati train to be extended to Ashokapuram Railway Station

Mysuru: V Somanna, Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, accompanied by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodiyar, Member of Parliament for Mysuru and Kodagu and Srivatsa, MLA of Krishnaraja constituency, conducted an inspection of the ongoing development works at Ashokapuram and Mysuru Railway stations on Friday.

The inspection was carried out in the presence of Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), South Western Railway, Mysuru Division, along with senior branch officers of the Division.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the development works and assured that several trains, including the Wodeyar Express, Malgudi Express, the weekly special train to Tirupati and other services, would be extended to Ashokapuram Railway Station starting from November 15. The station, which previously had only three platforms, now boasts of three additional full-length, high-level platforms, all equipped with complete shelter. In addition, three new lines have been provided, along with a water supply system for train coaches.

A spacious parking area has also been developed, complemented by a new second entry, improving connectivity for nearby localities.

With the completion of these developments and the extension of services from mid-November, the Minister noted that Mysuru Railway Station will experience reduced congestion, enhancing the passenger experience.

Following the inspection of Ashokapuram station, the Minister, along with Yaduveer, visited Mysuru Railway Station. They inspected the waiting halls, catering facilities on the platforms and interacted with the station’s staff, including sweepers and porters, to understand their working conditions.

The MP also reviewed the development works at Mysuru station and instructed the concerned officers to meet the deadlines for the completion of all ongoing projects within the Mysuru Division.

Later, the Minister, accompanied by Tanveer Sait, MLA for Narasimharaja constituency, G T Devegowda, MLA of Chamundeshwari constituency and Srivatsa, MLA for Krishnaraja constituency, conducted a review meeting with officials from Mysuru Division to discuss the progress of the development projects in the Mysuru area.

The review meeting concluded with a commitment to ensure timely completion of all planned works, according t Girish Dharmaraj Kalagonda, Divisional Commercial Manager and PRO, Mysuru Division.
