1 min read
Mysuru: The death of renowned yoga guru Sharath Jois, at a young age, has raised questions about health and fitness achieved through yoga and Ayurveda.
Sharath Jois, the grandson of legendary yoga teacher Pattabhi Jois, was based in Mysuru but had travelled to the United States. He collapsed and passed away due to sudden breathlessness in Virginia at the age of 53 recently.
His sudden death has sparked discussions both online and offline about the role of yoga in maintaining a good health, aimed at longevity.

Sharath’s passing challenges the notion that a disciplined lifestyle guarantees a healthy life. It has led people to question whether yoga can truly be a remedy for all ailments. While yoga is often practiced to improve well-being, it may not offer guaranteed control over conditions like blood pressure or blood glucose levels without medical intervention.
Sharath’s life leaves us with many unanswered questions about the reliability of yoga for long-term health. His passing serves as a reminder of the transient nature of life and the inescapable concept of Karma Siddhanta in Indian philosophy, which teaches that no one is exempt from the cycle of cause and effect.
