Belagavi: The Winter session of State Legislative Assembly at Suvarna Soudha on Wednesday approved the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) Bill, effectively replacing the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
As outlined in the bill, the MDA will comprise a Chairperson, an ex-officio Commissioner, a Finance Member, an engineer from the Karnataka Engineering Service, a town planner, an architect and a deputy secretary-level officer from the Urban Development Department.
Additionally, the authority will include two legislators from Karnataka, four members (including a woman and a representative from the SC/ST community), and representatives from the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board, ESCOM and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation.
MUDA that was founded by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, as City Improvement Trust Board, hit a major controversy, related to irregularities in 50:50 sites scam.
State Government decided to revamp MUDA keeping elected representatives away, to avoid any interference in the smooth and transparent functioning of the Authority.
