Mysuru: Former MP R Dhruvanarayan on Saturday gave a call to the party workers to work for the victory of the party supported candidates in the coming gram Panchayat election.

Dhruvanarayan who lost as a Congress candidate from Chamarajanagar in the recent Lok Sabha elections addressed the party workers from Varuna and Tagadur blocks, at Jayamma Govindegowda marriage hall on Saturday. The meeting was convened to thank the voters and also introspect over the performance in the elections.

He said ‘ We will fight all the elections in the future united to prove our mettle again’.

Welcoming the decision of former speaker K R Ramesh Kumar who disqualified 17 rebel MLAs, Dhruvanarayan said ‘ It will be a lesson for others too’.

Regretting over the present status of Congress party that lost miserably in the parliamentary elections, Dhruvanarayan said  ‘a tall leader like M Mallikarjun Kharge had to bite the dust in Gulbarga. While we fought the election on the plank of development, BJP provoked people in the name of caste and religion. It also turned the terrorists attack on CRPF convoy at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir to its advantage. I am optimistic that a day will come when people will vote on the basis of development works’.

Varuna MLA Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah, Hanur MLA R Narendra, former Nanjangud MLA Kalale Keshavamurthy, Mysore District Congress rural Committee president B J Vijaykumar were present.
