Wild tusker gores cow to death near Nagarahole

Mysuru: A wild tusker gored a cow to death at a village in the fringes of Nagarahole forest on the night of January 13.

The incident occurred at Hebbal village in Mathigod range of the forest in Hunsur taluk. The cow belongs to Venkatesh of the village and has suffered a loss of Rs 50,000 with its death.

The cattle was tethered in the cattle shed in the backyard of the house, where the tusker allegedly attacked the animal. It has gored the animal to death with its tusks at around 8 PM.

The neighbours who were witness to the incident raised an alarm, forcing the pachyderm to run.

They have demanded the forest personnel to take measures to check the menace, as the elephant has raided the village by crossing over railway tracks installed as elephant proof trench ( EPT).
