1 min read

Mysuru: Two wild jumbos have created a havoc at a few villages in H D Kote taluk in the district on Saturday.

The jumbos- one adult and sub- adult, both male were initially spotted at the agricultural fields of Beeregowda and Basavanegowda at Shindenahalli, where the solar fencing was destroyed by the pachyderm.

As the fretted villagers raised an alarm, the jumbos ran helter skelter towards Kaniyanahundi, where  farmers identified as Swamy Giwda and Suresh had a close shave.

Gowda and Suresh were grazing their cows in the field when they heard dogs barking indiscriminately. It was followed by the elephants that came charging towards them. Suresh climbed a tree leaving behind the cattle and to his luck the pachyderm charged at another tree and damaged it.

A cow injured in elephant attack in Kaniyanahundi in H D Kote taluk in Mysuru district on Saturday.

As the elephants brushed past the cow, it suffered a cut near it’s nostril and a wound on its hind part of the body.

The villagers have demanded the forest personnel to initiate measures to prevent the elephants from straying into the villages.
