Wild jumbo strays out of forest, camps in sugarcane field in H D Kote

1 min read

Mysuru: A wild elephant has strayed out of forest and camping at a sugarcane field in Sogahalli near Antarasanthe in H D Kote taluk in the district.

The villagers were petrified at the sight of the elephant in the early morning hours. As the frantic elephant ran towards the sugarcane field, the villagers alerted forest personnel. The forest personnel who rushed to the spot burst fire crackers to restrain the elephant from running towards the village. Though they succeeded in their efforts, it didn’t cause fear in the pachyderm either as it has stayed put in the field without running towards the forest.

The elephant is suspected to have flown towards the village in Kabini backwaters from Bandipur.

ACF Mahadev, RFOs Siddaraju and Madhu and PSI Jayaprakash are camping on the spot.
