2 min read

Mysuru: Joining the growing voices against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register for Citizens (NRC), Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Rajmohan Gandhi questioned the need for the Indians to prove their Citizenship.

Speaking to media after the two- day seminar on ‘Media: Democracy’ organised jointly by Gandhi Vichara Parishath Mysuru, Gandhi Adyayana Kendra,University of Mysore  in the city, Gandhi reacted on the ongoing debate over CAA.

Gandhi said “it is obvious for the people to Express their dissent when the government takes such amendments”.

Mahatma Gandhi’s protest was started in South Africa during a similar situation in that country like CAA that is massively going on in India.

A common Indian why should he claim his citizenship. No need to question on the citizenship. Gandhi also opposed this Act.

Now in india media should be the voice of the common man. People should be aware of it and should be spread among all. If not people will mislead and misuse this kind of situation and will be happening unabated.

Freedom and brotherhood is essential for democracy. Central Government has become supreme.

According to Gandhi all are equal, all community was equal for him, But now, there is a threat for democracy in india.

Lord Rama was revered by Gandhiji. But nowadays, the same name is being used to force upon the people.

He said South India is known for peace and calm and Mysuru is famous as education hub.

Pa Mallesh, former minister Dr H C Mahadevappa and others were a part of the seminar.
