Mysuru: Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje took a dig at the State government for blaming the previous BJP government for electricity supply companies (Escoms) hiking the power tariff rates.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Minister Shobha Karandlaje wondered why the Congress government was pointing fingers at the BJP when the Congress had sufficient time – during the election – before announcing the freebie of providing free power up to 200 units.
She observed that the Congress party had done little homework before announcing the freebie and when people are questioning, they are blaming the BJP government.
“They have announced the freebies and it is their responsibility to work towards it,” she said.
Minister Karandlaje was in Mysuru to take part in Rozgar Mela – 6th national level Mission Recruitment at Knowledge Park auditorium, All India Institute of Speech Hearing (AIISH) campus, Manasagangothri.
Karandlaje distributed employment certificates to various candidates who were recruited by government agencies.

On the Shakti scheme which enables free travel for women in government-run buses, Minister Karandlaje welcomed it but was quick to know how the government will take care of the KRTC that may suffer loss.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has presented 13 State budgets. He needs to answer the people how the government will continue with the scheme. Is the government planning to raise more loans or impose any new tax? The Chief Minister should clarify on it,” she said.
The Congress party did not impose any conditions for freebies before the election. But now everything comes with a condition.
“It’s like they are giving in one hand and taking away in another,” she retorted.
MLA T S Srivatsa and Mayor Shivakumar were present.
