Whistling in the wind! Karnataka pooh-poohs Kerala’s claim over ‘KSRTC’

1 min read

Bengaluru: Following the claim of Kerala road transport corporation to use the abbreviation- KSRTC, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has pooh-poohed the authority of the former.

On the basis of the year of registration to use the short term KSRTC, Karnataka government owned road transport corporation has claimed that the very registration of trademark was secured in 2013. While Kerala got it in 2019.

Following this Karnataka had issued a notice to Kerala to stop using the abbreviation. This led to a tussle over the abbreviation, in 2014, following which the transport authorities of God’s own country filed an appeal with the Registrar of trademarks.

The row resurfaced when Kerala authorities citing the latest order of registrar of trademarks claimed exclusive rights over using- KSRTC.

However, the Karnataka authorities are yet to receive any notice in this regard, it is said.
