Mandya: Many things happen over a cup of coffee. In reality, a miracle has happened over the name board of a tea shop.
Sunil of Gejjalagere has named his roadside tea stall after Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty- “Sudha Murty Amma Tea Stall” near Maddur Kolli Circle on Mysuru-Bengaluru highway. A part of the board also has a photo of Narayan Murthy and Sudha Murty couple.
On August 26 Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar was driving along the highway when he spotted the board.
Suresh Kumar wrote about the tea stall and its owner Sunil who was deeply inspired by the good deeds of Sudha Murty, on his facebook wall. It went viral and also reached Sudha Murty.
Sunil was in his shop when he received a call on his cellphone, which will remain etched in his memory for long. It was Sudha Murty speaking from that side.
Sunil has not even met Sudha Murty for once. While her social works had really touched him. So last year when he and his brothers decided to open a tea stall, they decided to name it- Sudha Murty Amma.
The miracle here, at least in the case of ‘Chaiwala’ Sunil was a ‘call he received from Sudha Murty’.
Initially Sunil said ” I am extremely happy and don’t know what to speak. Equally surprised was Sudha Murty which was evident in her talk- I haven’t helped you in any way, but still you have kept my name- that’s what the people are saying…
Sunil also shared his plans to do social activities in Sudha Murty’s name during his conversation with the latter. She also enquired about his business and the mode of business.
When Sunil insisted Sudha Murty to visit his stall, the latter reiterated her promise to visit when she came by that side, before hanging up the call.
