Mysuru: The burgeoning traffic on weekends and Sundays in the city, is definitely a matter of concern, especially in the heart of the city.

With Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara- 2024, set to be celebrated from October 3 to 12, and the first batch of nine elephants already arriving in the city, the spurt in the number of tourists has added to the weekend traffic followed by on Sunday.

It is a new normal to see the vehicles stranded up to a distance, with the impatient vehicle users, in the tail end, waiting for at least 10 to 20 minutes for their turn to cruise through the traffic signal.

This is the issue restricted to K R Circle, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle, Basaveshwara Circle and N Madhavarao Circle in Agrahara, in the vicity of Mysore Palace, a prominent tourist destination that connects many other tourist spots like- Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens popular as Mysuru zoo, Dasara Exhibition Grounds (which currently hosts Karnataka Sambhrama-50 exhibition) and Chamundi Hill.

Amid this, the elephants taken out on rehearsal on Jamboo Savari route from Palace to Bannimantap and back, all ambling symmetrically in a line, has turned into a new attraction in both the morning and evening times.

Especially in the evening, the elephants are taken out on a routine walk from 5.30 pm onwards, and the kids gather on either side of the road to catch a glimpse of the gigantic animal.
