Mysuru: After staging 16 successful shows across Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the play ‘The Good Doctor’ is all set to tickle the people of Mysuru for the very first time.

This full length, rip roaring comedy unfolds at Kiru Rangamandira, Kalamandira premises in the city, this weekend on February 22 between 7 PM and 9 PM. The tickets are available on the Insider platform and also at the venue.

Set in the early 70’s of Russia, the original script based on the short stories by the veteran writer, Anton Chekhov is masterfully crafted by American Playwright Neil Simon.

A blend of Neil Simon’s wit and Chekhov’s depth, ‘The Good Doctor’ is a comedy that is by turns charming, hilarious, poignant and touching.

In the current production with its adaptation to India, the narrative gains a native tadka, adding a unique cultural flavor to the timeless tales. the play set in 1970’s India, unfurls in 4 states – Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

An unnamed writer – but does a name matter? He is every writer who has ever struggled, every seeker lost in the labyrinth of creation. Amidst his struggle, he draws the audience into a world of stories, each shaped by his experiences and brought to life through his imagination!

Each of the 4 vignettes stand alone, yet the characters’ behaviour and their story resolutions remain delightfully unconventional and unpredictable.

Srilalitha Pamidipati has adeptly adapted the original play to the Indian context and has further directed the production that has left the audience in splits of laughter and poignance.

Dramaturgy of the play is by Deepak Subramanya aka Jayanth of the famous tele-serial Lakshmi Nivasa. He also essays the role of the writer in the current production.

The play boasts a stellar cast of actors who have all dramatised characters to life across both the Screen (TV, Cinema) and the Stage.

Music for the play has been composed by M S Prasanna and the lights have been designed by Sambit Debnath.

The performance is produced by Team Illuminating Windows.

We invite the people of Mysuru to come to Kiru Rangamandira at the Rangayana Campus with their families to enjoy this wonderful play!
