Mysuru: On account of World Hearing Day, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in association with JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing (JSSISH) and Mysuru chapter of Indian Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA) had organised a walkathon from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple premises, Mysore Palace North gate on Sunday.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of hearing health and shed light on issues such as hearing loss and the detrimental effects of noise pollution.

More than 300 participants including students and staff from AIISH and JSSISH, joined the walkathon, which was inaugurated by AIISH Director  M Pushpavathi.

World Hearing Day, celebrated annually on March 3, serves as a platform to advocate for optimal auditory health worldwide.

The walkathon sought to dispel misconceptions about hearing-related issues, promote informed decision-making about hearing health, and emphasize the need for preventive measures against noise pollution.

In addition to the walkathon, AIISH organized various activities, including street plays in villages to raise awareness among rural communities and hearing screenings for over 1200 school children.

These initiatives align with the goals of World Hearing Day, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and education in promoting hearing wellness.
