Mysuru: “Experience plays a crucial role in shaping our future. It is often said that “experience makes perfect,” and this is especially true in the field of engineering and leadership. Participating in hands-on workshops or events like this provides the perfect opportunity to gain practical experience, which is a vital step toward shaping a successful career,” said Shivarudraswamy R, Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal.

Speaking after inaugurating ‘VriddhEEE 2025,’ a state-level project competition organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, on Saturday, he encouraged students to develop innovative solutions aligned with global sustainability objectives.

He stressed the importance of practical experience in shaping a career, stating, “Experience makes perfect.” While textbooks are essential, real-world application of knowledge is what truly prepares students for the future.

He urged students to participate in such events as they offer invaluable hands-on experience that textbooks cannot provide. He highlighted that employers prioritize practical skills over grades once students graduate. “It’s not about avoiding failure, but learning from it,” he said, encouraging students to embrace challenges and grow from them.

Sadashivegowda, Principal of VVCE, emphasised the importance of communication skills, stating that presenting a project effectively is as crucial as the technical work itself.

He encouraged students to consider publication in a journal after completing their projects, as it enhances their value. He also highlighted the potential of patenting even simple ideas, noting that many students, especially in America, have gained patents for their work.

He urged students to aim for both publication and patenting, which can significantly contribute to the long-term success and recognition of their projects.

The event saw participation from over 50 teams from various colleges across Karnataka, providing final-year Electrical and Electronics Engineering students an opportunity to showcase their groundbreaking projects. Industry experts, researchers, and academicians also engaged with the participants.

The students came out with innovative projects works.

On the occasion, LG Dhanushree, Bhavana U and Latha S who emerged as topper in third, fifth and seventh semester respectively were also honoured with certificate.

Gundappa Gowda, President of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Mysuru, Dr Shobha Shankar, Vice Principal & Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr K Gopala Reddy, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering briefed about the competition.
