VP Warriors lifts Champion’s trophy at V Prabhakar Memorial Legends Cricket Tournament

Mysuru: VP Warriors emerged winners, while VP Royals had to be content for Runner’s Up trophy at V Prabhakar Memorial Legends Cricket Tournament at Gangotri Glades (Manasagangotri) in the city on Sunday. 

It was a T10 tournament that indeed made the game more interesting, attracting cricket lovers irrespective of age group.

Prajwal Raj the captain of VP Warriors received the champion’s trophy from chief guests K R Mohan Kumar President of Navodaya Cricket Club, former cricketer S Vijay Prakash and Secretary of NCC V Sreenivas Prasad.

Earlier VP Royals won the toss and chose to field. Making much use of the opportunity VP Warriors scored 96 runs losing six wickets and Royals indeed had a tough task in hand for they had to chase the huge score in 60 balls. The required run rate was 10.

Like most matches, the last over was crucial as VP Royals needed 16 runs in six balls, but couldn’t reach the target.

Navodaya Cricket Club in association with Physical Education Department of University of Mysore had organised the tournament in memory of V Prabhakar, who was synonymous with cricket in Mysuru.

It also saw the active participation of cricketers, especially those associated with Prabhakar and the game. 

Man of the Match- Day 1

Venkateshwara A, Pavan K R, Shivakumar M, Jayaram Karthik and G V Ravi

Man of the match- Day 2

S P Manjunath, Bharath N, Madhusudan, Bharath Chipli and Biligiri Ranga.

Rajgopal, Mallikarajun, Gurudutt and Sunil Kumar were the match officials.

Best batsman- Venkateshwara, Best bowlerShivakumar M and Raghunath G N and Best all-rounder Madusudhan.

In all five teams played in the two-day tournament. They were- VP Challengers, VP Dynamos, VP Warriors, VP Royals and VP Maharajas ( Bengaluru).
