Volunteers collect loads of plastic waste and beer bottles from Chamundi Hills

Mysuru: Loads of plastic waste, bottles and beer bottles were cleaned up from the ecologically-sensitive Chamundi Hills on Thursday. In their continued campaign to ensure plastic-free Chamundi Hill, the volunteers teamed up with the Forest Department staff, Chamundi Betta Ulisi Samiti and Parisara Balaga and took up the cleanliness drive on Uttanahalli road side.
They all arrived at Tavarekatte from at 7.30 am and collected all the garbage mindlessly thrown by tourists and devotees up to 10 am. Nearly 15 volunteers participated in the drive.
Volunteer Leela Venkatesh urged devotees to maintain the cleanliness of the Hills, which is not only an ecological hotspot but is also a religious destination.
