Mysuru: To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, a special music concert has been organised by Ganabharathi on January 30 at 6 pm at Veena Sheshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar in the city.

January 30, the death anniversary of Gandhiji is also observed as Sarvodaya Day.

Vidwan Manasa Nayana will be presenting a carnatic vocal concert based on the poems composed on Mahathma Gandhi by different poets. He will be accompanied by Vidushi Nalina Mohan on violin, Vidwan Sayishivu Lakshmikeshav on mridanga and N S Narayanamurthy on ghata.
Vocalist Manasa Nayana presenting exclusive concerts based on the poems of Kannada poets said that “I will be singing eight songs penned by Dinakara Desai, K S Narasimhaswamy, Purohita Thirunarayana Narasimhachar (PuTiNa), Dr D R Bendre, V Seetharamaiah, Ram Shri Mugali, Ananda Kanda and Bhujendra Mahishavadi”.
“This is a unique musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. It almost took two weeks to compose tunes to the poems and suit the vocabulary to Carnatic style. Usually, we sing about Lord Rama and other Gods in Bhavageethe. The Kannada poets have also described Gandhi as a superhuman and thus it was not much difficult for me to perceive Gandhi and compose tunes”, said Manasa Nayana.
Manasa Nayana is a first rank holder in Vidwath examination and he has won many scholarships like CCRT and awards and prizes including the national-level competition conducted by the All India Radio.
