Vishwanath a true Kannadiga by letter and spirit dies at 80

Mysuru: It is definitely a black day in the history of Karnataka.

While in Bengaluru, the State lost a freedom fighter ever seen by Kannadigas amidst us H S Doreswamy, in Mysuru a Kannada activist M B Vishwanath who lived the life of a Kannadiga in true letter and spirit was also lost same day- Wednesday.

Vishwanath aged 80 years passed away at a private hospital in the city.

Vishwanath was among the first batch students who qualified BSc in Kannada Medium from Yuvaraja’s College.

He later became the Superintendent of MCDCC Bank, where he served till his retirement.

He was a trustee of Kannada Shaikshanika, Samajika Vikasa institution located in Ramakrishna Nagar.

He was an active member of Kannada Jagruti Samithi and a former member of Kannada Development Authority (KDA).

He had participated in numbers of agitations in favour of Kannada and Karnataka.

The contribution of Vishwanath is more evident in the boards of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) with a Kannada word- Kannadave Sathya Kannada ve Nithya ( Kannada is the truth and also Kannada all time). 

He was among the panel that was regularly visiting the government offices to oversee the implementation of Kannada as an administrative language.

Vishwanath is survived by daughter Lakshmi, a large number of relatives and friends.

Senior journalist and All India Radio former Correspondent K V Srinivasan has condoled for demise of Vishwanath.
